“These are the principles for the development of a complete mind: Study the science of art. Study the art of science… Realize that everything connects to everything else”

Science is the way the world is explained to us, Art is the way we explain the world to others, and spirituality is how we explain the world to ourselves. These three aspects are woven together throughout our lives to construct our worldviews. Ceramics as a medium is deeply steeped in all of these aspects and remains a cornerstone of humanity. Not only as a core of industry, but as relics from ancient people and a medium for us to directly interact with our environment. As a ceramicist I seek to explore the artistic, scientific, and sacred aspects of this medium and push the boundaries of these intersections. I want the pieces I make to not only be used but to inspire curiosity about the diverse and complex life we live.

Aspen Moreno is an Honors Graduate from Kutztown University. Here, they studied the craft of ceramics in as many aspects as were available. They also spent time at Peters Valley School of Craft, learning techniques such as Soda and Wood firing. Post-Grad, Aspen explored local studios as a professional avenue and currently works at Mudworks Pottery in Effort PA. Here they manage the glaze lab and develop new colors for the fantastic mugs and bowls Mudworks produces.
